Why are we offering this?
Obviously it’s great for brand building… we get to explain in detail how our chocolate is different.
We believe the best way to help improve the financial situations, in the regions making cacao available, is market pressure… supply and demand. The more competition we directly have, the better it is for the entire industry and especially those on the front lines. FairTrade is great, but that’s just marketing and at best 10% over commodity pricing; true change happens when their cacao is high quality, interesting and desired. That’s the reason we pay up to 10x commodity pricing and that’s how we raise the waterline for everyone. Maybe we can convince one of you to throw your hat in the ring and make chocolate you can sell. Competition is also the best thing for the consumer; it forces all of us to raise our game!
