Elevate Your Next Party

Wine, Chocolate or Both?

We’ve all heard of wine tasting parties—but have you ever considered chocolate? Much like wine, chocolate boasts a world of flavors shaped by its origins. The type of cacao, the terroir, the weather during the growing season, and even the timing of the harvest all contribute to the unique characteristics found in artisan chocolate. This year, try something different and unforgettable—host your very own chocolate tasting party!

Get a variety of chocolate

To host your chocolate tasting party, start with our curated 'chocolate flights.' Each flight includes five unique chocolate bars, each crafted from cacao sourced from different regions around the world. This selection is designed to highlight the distinct flavors and aromas that come from varying terroirs and production techniques. Order your chocolate flight today, and you'll have everything you need to guide your guests through a journey of flavor discovery!

Consider This- if you want to compare the unique attributes of each cocoa bean, make sure you are only buying bars that don’t have any flavors, fruits, nuts, caramels, or spices added. Look for 2 and 3 ingredient chocolate (cacao, sugar, and possibly cocoa butter).

Blind tasting?

One of the first decisions you’ll make is whether to taste the chocolates with the help of the packaging details or blindly.

Guided Tasting with Packaging: For newcomers or those looking for a more structured experience, using the packaging details is incredibly helpful. Place the chocolate in front of the package and let guests read about the flavor notes as they taste. This approach makes it easier for guests to identify the subtle nuances, like hints of fruit, nuts, or spice, and provides a deeper understanding of each region.

Blind Tasting: If you’re looking for a fun challenge and want your guests to focus solely on their senses, a blind tasting is a fantastic option. Here’s how to set it up:

  • Prepare the Samples: Break the chocolate into bite-sized pieces and place them in small bowls or on plates.

  • Label the Bowls: Use letters or numbers to label each bowl (e.g., "A," "B," or "1," "2") and write the corresponding labels on the hidden packaging for reference.

  • Hide the Packaging: Hide the packaging with a cloth, paper, or box to keep the details and flavor notes concealed. We recommend leaving the chocolate package directly behind the tasting bowls and allow your guests to look only after they have reviewed.

Tasting Sheets

Provide Tasting Sheets: Give each guest a sheet where they can rate or describe the flavors they detect for each sample. This method keeps the connection between the chocolate and its origin intact while allowing your guests to discover the flavors without influence. Afterward, you can reveal your notes and compare impressions. Download a tasting sheet here or make your own.

Note that the tasting sheets we provide include instruction for each of your 5 senses.

Consider This- Tasting delicate flavor notes can feel challenging or even intimidating, especially for those who are new to the experience. But don’t worry—it becomes easier and a lot more fun with time! In the beginning, some guests might feel unsure or even self-conscious about what they taste.

We encourage you to remind everyone that there is no right or wrong answer. Tasting is deeply personal, and even experts often detect different flavors than those listed on the box. The key is to simply enjoy the process.

If someone tastes chocolate and nothing else, that’s a fantastic answer—after all, chocolate is what we’re here for! The most important part is to relax, explore, and have fun together.

The only question left is…

Who’s throwing the next party?
